Twitter on Campus

Are you a Twitter User? I've been seeing a significant growth in Twitter users by Library and IT staff on campus. If you do use Twitter, I'd like to follow you, so please post your handle here if you are amenable. - Thanks.

identi.ca user here

I'm actually an identi.ca user (running the Canadian open source twitter engine, Laconica). I signed up for it originally, because they support OpenID for logging in, which is an instant sell for me, since I don't have to make up yet another username and password and can just log in with my Ubuntu launchpad account. 8) Anyway, my identi.ca posts actually get pushed to twitter and Facebook. Here's the 411:

P.S. As I mentioned, identi.ca is open source... UTORtweet, anyone? ;P

That's rather cool. What are

That's rather cool. What are you using to push your identi.ca posts over to Twitter? I see the FB app, but nothing else at a quick glance...

It's there...

When you log on to identi.ca and check out the options/account settings screen, there should be an option to push updates to Twitter. If you have an OpenID (e.g. GMail account) you can try it without having to create a password. One of the reasons why I went with identi.ca, actually.

OpenID

OpenID has now been implemented for techknowfile.org.

Using your Gmail account as your OpenID

Michael Moncada's picture

If you wish to use your gmail email account as your OpenID remember to enter in https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/id as your OpenID under the OpenID identities tab in your profile. Entering your Gmail address directly will not work.

Cheers,

M

Awesome!

Now I can login to techknowfile.org with http://id.rouben.net/rouben which is my OpenID delegation page. That way I can switch OpenID providers anytime (e.g. start using GMail instead of Launchpad, which is what I use now) without having to re-register my OpenID URL with all the websites where I use it.

I know the above is probably confusing to some of you, so here's a nice post that elaborates on what I mean and does a much better job explaining it. :)

Yay Twitter!

I'm a twitter user: I'm rmazar.

Also working on bringing twitter to the library and a variety of ways. Twitter traffic reports, updates on systems, etc. I love twitter in situ, but I also love that I can stick a widget on a website and have the latest updates show there. That way, even non-twitter users can benefit from the work.

TechKnowFile is on twitter too... testing it out, hopefully we'll use it more widely next year :)
