MS Outlook options for Linux users?

I was wondering Linux users who need to access the MS Exchange service are using? I've heard people using Wine, remote desktop to a Windows box, and virtual machines.

Myself, I'm running a Windows XP virtual machine through VirtualBox inside an Ubuntu Jaunty install. So far, it's working pretty good. I still use Thunderbird for an email client and Outlook strictly for calendering and accepting/creating meetings.

It would be interesting to see what others are doing and maybe experimenting (playing?) with other solutions as well.

My solution

Being a Linux user, I've always used web calendaring, even with Oracle. Granted, the web calendar on OWA for Firefox really sucks, but it's better than nothing.

Another workaround for me is inviting myself to meetings when scheduling with the BlackBerry. Messy and kludgy, but it gets the job done. :) Finally there's always using RDesktop or a VM (VirtualBox works well) to run Outlook 2007. I personally find Outlook to be very complicated, so I prefer not to use it.

I'm not a heavy calendar user, so I can't complain. One thing I'd love to see is Evolution support for U of T's Exchange server configuration. I think the problem is that the Evolution plugin for Exchange 2007 doesn't support the proxy server. Another solution I'd like to try a various IMAP to iCal gateways.

Google apps

Apparently Google apps sync with outlook now, so you could use Google calendar!

Exit strategy!

So if we ever decide to go to GMail, we have an exit strategy. Just kidding! ;)
