An interesting new tool. I guess a replacement of the old ntpasswd tool -- but this time, looks like you don’t need to reset passwords -- you just get into the system.

I find running the sysinternals tools/apps via their live site very useful instead of keeping a copy on USB key et la.

What is freeSSHD?

freeSSHd, like it's name says, is a free implementation of an SSH server. It provides strong encryption and authentication over insecure networks like Internet. Users can open remote console or even access their remote files thanks to buit-in SFTP server.

I really, really, hope that this is just a beta/release candidate issue... or rather a misconfiguration. Anticompetitiveness (questionable... things may break otherwise) aside, this is a pretty major security issue. I'm not quite sure why DEP (data execution protection) isn't catching this... again, hopefully default settings will be adjusted so that this won't be possible in the final version. I really, really hope so, otherwise we're back to the Windows XP security model.
