No surprise...
I'm not at all surprised... I consider Europe to be ahead of North America when it comes to open source (at least understanding what it really means, not necessarily adoption; which isn't for everyone!) and technology in general.
IIRC, there were a few
IIRC, there were a few municipal governments, in France I believe, who have gone completely open source in their offices. It would be cool to see if a division or department in our university would do this as well. Maybe there is one already?
French Police
French Gendarmerie (sp) is one example of a government body that adopted OpenOffice initially and eventually switched completely to Linux desktops (not sure what flavour, possible SuSE or RedHat).
In terms of doing this at U of T, I think some departments already have done that. I'd look at Computer Science, and various Engineering departments...
